I've been lucky enough to have known Nancy for 23 years. Right from the start she welcomed me with open arms and a full heart. She has been a big part of my life ever since and a wonderful example of perseverance, grit, determination and thoughtfulness. A woman of many talents including trivia master, creator and educator of all ages.
A smattering of things she created includes a lot of the furniture in her home, the many quilts hanging everywhere, Jenn's wedding dress, a covering that turned our dining room table into an elaborate fort, many dolls and animals complete with fully functional clothes and accessories, 3 amazing kids and a lasting bond with her grandkids.
Speaking of those kids of hers. The amount of love and work that they put into Nancy's last week was extraordinary and admired by all of us and should be acknowledged.
To watch Nancy persevere in her home for as long as she did, going up and down those stairs to the lake, was remarkable. But once she moved to the Waterford I saw the educator and thoughtfullness really take off. She loved it there and was loved as shown by the outpouring of stories from her fellow residents.
My greatest memories of Nama were the many trips we would go to see her and spend time outside watching the grandkids play all over the yard and even on Pope's Peak. Without fail she would makes us all smile and show us she cared for each of us.
She will be deeply missed in our household but we have so many subtle reminders of her love and will hold them close.
I agree with my youngest daughter when she said that 'all I want for Christmas is Nama back'.
Love,
Paul (son in law, married to Jenn).
